Dangerous Mood Bearded Iris
24-36" tall x 18" wide. Mysterious and alluring, the deep blues of Dangerous Mood Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) are dramatic additions to the mid-to-late spring garden. The misty blue standards (upwards petals) rise out of deep midnight blue, almost black, velvety falls (downward petals). At 24-36" tall Dangerous Mood can anchor a perennial bed with unique flowers and sword-like foliage. Add them to a perennial bed, with Peonies, Poppies and other mid-to-late spring bloomers where their beautiful coloring can highlight the reds and pinks of spring. Plant them in groups of at least three for best effect at 8-10 inches apart, making sure that the top of the rhizome (bulb) is just above soil level. Not particularly picky over soil type, Bearded Iris do require well-draining soil where they can be kept moist when needed, but they won't tolerate standing water. They will spread and multiply over time creating more Beardies for your garden and great gifts to give!
